Conventionally, grinding media was made of Cast iron, Cast steel and even through Forged process in EN specifications. However, High Chrome Grinding media has surpassed the conventionally produced grinding media in terms of performance and is now widely being used by all industries across the globe.

 Technical Specification

The grinding media is manufactured by us in various specifications. The exact specification is suggested by us to the customer depending on various factors such as:

  • Material to be ground
  • Granulometry of the material
  • Grinding process (Wet/Dry)
  • Importance of wear mechanisms involved (abrasion, corrosion, impact).
  • Factors influencing the mill.

The sizes of grinding media may vary from one mill to another, but mostly, coal is broken down in the CHP within a reasonably small size. Sizes of mostly 30, 40 and 50 mm are used. However, in certain mills, ball sizes upto 80 mm are also used.

The comparatively small sizes of mills allow to chose a grade, which has very high hardness. Improved Hardness and wear resistance results into much better wear rate, which not only brings down the cost, but also the handling and other operational costs.

SBIPL has been supplying to almost all thermal power stations of the country, since a long time, and is also one of the only few vendors of the biggest OEM in the country, BHEL. Besides, SBIPL also exports to various countries in this regard.
